We look for love, we live for love, we seek for love, we ache for love, we fight for love, we pray for love, and sometimes… we even die for love!
Love should be simple… two people meet, fall in love and live happily ever after!
But
love is never simple and when racism, bigotry, culture and love
collide, results can be tragic.
I Will Rise In Love explores love in its many guises… forbidden love, interracial love, intercultural love, gay love…
Two intertwining and parallel love stories -
One in the present, a young Muslim woman and an older non-Muslim man -
The other, in the past, a young gay black man, a griot, and his white lover.
The young woman and the man meet and fall in love. They are torn apart, but love triumphs and they reunite.
Born out of suffering and abuse they work together to create a work of stunning beauty. But the young woman dies leaving the man to carry on alone.
Without her love devastated and depressed, the man loses the will to complete alone, what they had created together. But the work is too important to abandon, so the woman returns from beyond to help him complete what they started.
The griot and his lover meet and fall in love, but have to keep their love secret.
When they are discovered violence follows and the lover is killed.
